SCCCA Brochure 2016-17

Qing Li, Violinist, and Paolo André Gualdi, Pianist, will present a recital of classical music on Monday evening, April 10, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Wallace Congregational Church; please note the non-standard day and time. There is no admission fee to attend this concert, which will be followed by a tea and cookies reception with the musicians. Ms. Li is the Principal Second Violinist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Mr. Gualdi is Artistic Director of the South Carolina Chamber Music Festival. Both are also university professors of music.

April will be filled with 3 highly varied concerts, beginning with music from Violinist Qing Li and Pianist Paolo Andre Gualdi. We are now a regular stop on the Piatigorsky Foundation’s annual Idaho tour, but our exact date is still unsure. We know our concert will be between April 10th and 14th. We will share the date and place as soon as the details are complete. This concert is a gift to the community – no charge for any one.

Everything Fitz bring fast and tricky fiddle music and Ottawa Valley step dancing. Their music evolved from Irish, Scottish and French immigrants’ traditions. The group includes 3-time Canadian Grandmaster Fiddle Champions and Ontario Open Step Dance Champions. This is a program to keep you smiling and toe-tapping. It will be at Wallace High School. Please note the non-standard day and time: 7:00 pm on Monday evening, April 17. Admission is by SCCCA Membership or $20 at the door; no charge for students. Non-members may purchase a 2017-18 Membership and attend this concert as well.

Completing the spring is a concert open to the public without charge, on Monday evening, April 24, at 7:00 pm, by the percussionist and 5 woodwind players of the Academy Winds from the US Air Force Academy. They are professional musicians in the Air Force, using these community events to help the Academy. It is open to the public but they request you pick up (free) tickets in advance They will be available at Joni Bartel’s Dance Studio in Osburn, Stein’s (Kellogg and Osburn), Harvest Foods (Wallace and Pinehurst), Mullan Trail Gas & Grocery, and Price Tag Antiques in Wallace. No one will be turned away from the concert for lack of a ticket. The concert will include military and patriotic music and a variety of popular and classical selections. Again, note the non-standard day and time. This concert will be held at Kellogg Middle School, with a mix of folding chairs and bleacher seating, so you may want to bring a cushion or other portable seat amendment.

Yes, April is crowded but we knew you wanted us to accept the offer from the Academy Winds to be part of their north Idaho tour and the Piatigorsky Foundation musicians are highly virtuousic. Everything Fitz is also tightly scheduled on their tour of the American northwest. We have spaced these concerts as best we could. Sit back and enjoy this bonanza!

Here are some glimpses into the 2017-18 season. We have listened to your requests for earlier concerts and the matinees will begin at 2:00 pm, following the practice of other Silver Valley events. On Sunday, October 15, at Wallace HS, Trio Voronezh will bring traditional Russian instruments for a program of popular, classical, gypsy and Russian folk music. On November 5 the Gothard Sisters will give a program of Celtic and American roots music—vocal, instrumental, and clogging—at Kellogg Sr HS. There will be 2 or 3 concerts in the spring. There may be an evening concert on Thursday, October 5 in Wallace, probably at 7:00 pm.
